Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why paneling with insurance is not ideal for a therapist. This includes certain diagnosis requirements, low reimbursement rates, a lack of patient confidentiality, and piles of paperwork to name a few.

The advantages of keeping psychotherapy separate from your insurance company include:

  • No diagnosis label permanently attached to your health record.

  • Your records are protected, information shared during the intake or sessions cannot be obtained by the insurance company, everything remains confidential.

  • Your length of time and form of treatment is not determined by the insurance company. Instead, you and Allyson are able to collaborate together on the best course of treatment.

What types of payment do you accept?

Allyson accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, HSA and FSA cards.

Can you prescribe medication?

Allyson cannot prescribe medication; however, she can direct you to a trusted medical professional who specializes in medication management.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on a few things, such as what led you to seek therapy, past therapeutic work, and how committed you are to your unique goals. Clients who are open to change and willing to work on themselves not only in therapy, but outside of therapy, see the most success. Length of therapy can range from 6 weeks to a few years.
